Mixed media florals in gold frame
This textured Abstrace mixed media floral painting was inspired by a clipping I found in a small box among my Grandmother’s things. The poem is titled “Faith” The poem is included in a certificate of authenticity that is included with the painting.
Inspired by the quiet faith of my Grandma I included collage elements to reflect memories of her and the things she included us on. Elements of collage include a doily, because she had them everywhere, pieces of newspaper and pieces of a sewing pattern. The floral arrangement is a reflection of the flower beds she had around her home and include pieces of dried paint skins that were peeled off the palette and collaged in with the florals, the vase is made up of pieces of collage and sketchbook pages as a nod to the quilts she created using scrap fabric and old clothing. The 24 karat gold leaf is a representation of the treasure of a legacy left behind by quiet, gentle woman of faith.
Created in many different studio sessions, this original painting has a build up of layers to create depth and texture, each layer leaving influences of the layer before showing through as each inner layer shapes the outer piece. The result is a piece of art you can get lost in and find something new within the piece each time you look at it.
Faith
Skeptics say there is no God; That does not make it true. I see him in the morning sun And on roses drenched with dew. I see him in the rainbow That spans the summer sky: I see him in all nature, I’m sure he’s often nigh. A million stars are in teh sky; Much could be hidden there - Heavenly mansions for all I know, And joy beyond compare. A master hand has planned it all; Human minds cannot conceive. The only thing we need to have Is faith just to believe. - E. Brothers
